We have worked to give a global vision of the state of Universities where TA is or has been taught, of TA teachers and, in general, of TA researchers. The approaches have been both historical, accumulated since the introduction of TA (1970), and "still picture", reflecting the current reality of Universities. The number of universities analysed has increased to 48, including 7 in South America and 1 in the UK, where TA is taught. Even, as it has been done in the Observatory 2018 (Durán Álvarez J. , 2019), a special section of "Non-Teaching" has been carried out, for TA researchers who are not teachers in any University. The indicators and rankings used are of different categories and can be interpreted in very different ways. Therefore, the intention has been to provide multiple items of information to the user of this Observatory and that he establishes the conclusions he considers appropriate regarding research in TA. Therefore, the vision of the Universities and researchers is complementary. The availability of data to carry out detailed diagnoses is key to a policy of promotion of research in TA. Furthermore, these figures help to identify and correct any shortcomings that may be occurring. The results will not be immediate, but they will help to change existing trends. Many times we rely on mirages that do not reflect reality, but this does not help us to make the necessary change. With regard to this year's Observatory, several new features have been established, as mentioned above. Together with the historical static vision accumulated by both Universities and researchers, a "current" vision has been made, both of the year 2019, and of the accumulated 2015-2019. This will give us an overview of the Universities and teachers, with more dynamism at present. Also, an attempt has been made to expand the corpus of Technical Architects, with those who are already in university research groups, the future of research in this area. Likewise, the Observatory of the TA 2019, as a biosphere capsule, serves as an indicator of where the career is going, denoting the weaknesses and strengths it may have and, concatenated, the increase and decrease of teachers and scientific production that is taking place. Let us hope that it will also serve the heads of institutions to correct this drift, because the future of the profession is at stake. The vision given, although the title indicates that it is of TA, is basically the evolution of collaboration with other groups - architects, engineers, chemists, documentalists, geologists, etc. - given the holistic vision of this profession. A very important fact to bear in mind is that there is a very high percentage of TA researchers who have a second degree that has opened the doors of research groups to them. For a long time this was the only option for these researchers. The variety of bibliometric and altimetric metrics serves as a basis for multiple analyses that can be carried out in subsequent research work, taking these data as a starting point. The quantitative and qualitative analysis complements the above data. The databases and portals that have been used for the development of this Observatory are all public and the data have been stored in a database registered with the Spanish Data Protection Agency. This Observatory is one more of the initiatives that are developed and complemented, such as the RIARTE Repository and the TA Scientific Production Portal. 1] Technical Architecture, TA, Quantity Surveyors, Degree in Building, Degree in Building Engineering, Degree in Technical Architecture, Degree in Building Science and Technology, Degree in Technical Architecture}, publisher = {Unidad de Evaluación de la Actividad Científica.
