abstract = {El autor en yídish Sholem Aleichem, pseudónimo de Sholem Rabinovitz, vivió la experiencia de la emigración desde la Rusia zarista
hasta Estados Unidos debido a la presión sobre la población judía a principios del siglo
XX. Sus novelas reflejan la vida de los judíos
del este de Europa entre dos mundos: la cultura yídish europea en proceso de disolución
y las esperanzas en el Nuevo Mundo que los
acogió. En la novela Estrellas Errantes, Sholem Aleichem retrata las actitudes e imágenes
que los judíos tenían de los gentiles y muestra
las tensiones provocadas al intentar preservar
la identidad judía frente a la necesidad de asimilación cultural. El presente artículo analiza
estas concepciones y tensiones a través de las
voces de los personajes, del narrador y del
propio autor bajo su pseudónimo. Finalmente,
se aborda la problemática de si la imagen literaria de los gentiles en la novela y la opinión
del autor se corresponden.},
abstract = {The Yiddish author Sholem Aleichem, pseudonym of Sholem Rabinovitz, experienced the
emigration from tzarist Russia to the United
States due to the pressure on the Jewish population at the beginning of the 20th century. His
novels reflect the lives of Eastern European
Jews between two worlds: the declining Yiddish culture and the hope of the New World
that took them in. In Blonzende Shteren,
Sholem Aleichem portrays the attitudes and
images the Jews had towards the Gentiles. He
also shows the tension felt by the Jews trying
to preserve their identity while coping with
the need of cultural assimilation. This article
analyses these images and tensions as they appear through the characters’ voices, the narrator and the author’s pseudonym. Finally, the
paper aims to clarify if the literary image of
Gentiles in the novel and the author’s opinion
coincide.},
