Es algo que tendría que tenerse en cuenta para realizar propuestas de prevención.}, abstract = {Abstract: Background: Cancer is one of the diseases most feared by Spanish society that requires a change in the life of the person who suffers from it. A high percentage of cancer survivors are in the middle of the active and productive period of their lives, so these changes include the workplace. Social support is considered a necessity that helps to alleviate some effects of the consequences of the oncological disease, and the absence of esteem has been shown to be a health risk. The aim of this study is to analyze the current situation regarding these psychosocial factors of risk in the workplace of the University of Granada, emphasizing the comparison of cancer survivors and people who have not had the disease. Method: A quasi-experimental study was carried out with 202 participants, who are employees of the University of Granada, aged between 23 and 69 years (M = 41.16) divided into naturally selected groups according to whether or not they had undergone an oncological process. The dimensions of social support and esteem as occupational risk factors were evaluated using an adaptation of the ISTAS21 questionnaire. Results: the data show that there are statistically significant differences between the selected groups in the two dimensions evaluated in the study, in particular, cancer survivors scored less in social support and in esteem with a relatively low effect size but with an observed optimal power, which provides great assurance of that effect. Conclusions: having suffered from cancer is associated with significant post-stress that diminishes the well-being of the person and it is paradoxical and alarming that the situation of these people seems to be overlooked by the University of Granada as if it were taken for granted that they will not return to their positions. The return to work in people who have undergone an oncological process is something that should be taken into account when proposing programs or preventive adaptations. In addition, continuing with research in this line focusing on more specific aspects is also proposed.}, organization = {Universidad de Granada. Departamento de Psicología Social.
