abstract = {Se estudia en este artículo la visita realizada a estas ciudades por el inquisidor Jiménez
Palomino a fin de recoger denuncias e informaciones sobre delitos correspondientes a la jurisdicción
de la Inquisición. Se percibe un cierto interés por perseguir moriscos que cumplían
en secreto la religión de Mahoma. En total fueron denunciados 118 personas, de los que 38 vivían
en Andújar, 40 en Jaén y otros tantos en Baeza. Si fue alto el número de moriscos denunciados
el de judaizantes fue bajo. Por proposiciones diversas fueron acusados 19; el mismo
número hubo de denuncias de clérigos que solicitaban a mujeres penitentes, aunque solo fueron
procesados 3. La incidencia de casos de hechicería, blasfemia y alumbrados es escasa.
Tiene en cambio cierto interés las denuncias sobre cristianos viejos renegados que habían
abrazado la religión musulmana; algunos vivían en Marruecos, otros en Constantinopla.},
abstract = {This article studies the visit of the inquisitor Jiménez Palomino to Andalusia so that he
could obtain information and accusations for crimes coming under the jurisdiction of the Inquisition.
There is an evident interest in persecuting Moriscos (baptized Moors) who practiced
the religion of Mohammed in secret. A total of 118 persons were accused; of these, 38 lived in
Andújar, 40 in Jaén and 40 in Baeza. Although the number of Moriscos accused is high,
among the Judaizers the accusations were few. Nineteen were accused of some form of propositioning;
an equal number of clergymen were reported to have approached penitent women,
yet only three were finally brought to trial. There is only a low incidence of cases of withchcraft,
blasphemy and perfectibilism. However, there are noteworthy instances of old Chistian renegades
living in Morocco and Constantinople who were accused of embracing the Muslim
religion.},
