abstract = {La  literatura  árabe  clásica  guarda  en  sus  páginas  tal  cantidad  de  versos  y 
anécdotas jocosas que nada hacen sospechar del intenso debate que, a lo largo de la Edad Media, pensadores y juristas sostuvieron en torno al papel que la risa 
y el humor debían desempeñar en la vida cotidiana de un buen musulmán, debate que acabó extendiéndose al ámbito de las letras. El presente trabajo se propone analizar la encrucijada en la que, en este sentido, hubieron de moverse los literatos  árabes  medievales  —en  Oriente  y  al-Andalus—  y  su  reflejo  en  sus obras. Para ello, me centraré en la literatura de adab,exponiendo, por un lado, la postura que los autores seleccionados adoptaron frente al humor, y por otro, cómo éste fue integrado en sus creaciones.},
abstract = {Classical Arabic literature holds within its pages such a vast amount of humourous verse and anecdotes that it is hard to imagine the intense debate held by Medieval thinkers and jurists concerning the role which laughter and humour ought to play in the daily life of a good Muslim, a debate which extended into the field of literature too. The present paper sets out to analyse the predicament in which Medieval men of letters found themselves in this respect —both in the East and in the West— and its reflection in their works. For this purpose I shall 
centre  my  attention  on  adab  literature,  examining  the  position  that  a  selectednumber of Oriental and Andalusī authors took regarding humour, and the way 
they incorporated it into their compositions.},
