egipcio Yūsuf Idrīs. Se trata de una obra clave dentro del teatro árabe y egipcio moderno. Aunque en ella se observan características de algunas de las corrientes y tendencias dramáticas occidentales
que van desde las antiguas comedias de Aristófanes y la commedia dell'arte hasta los
trabajos modernos de Pirandello, Artaud, Brecht, Ionesco, Beckett y Arrabal, ello no impide que el autor se acerque a su objetivo de crear una obra de espíritu y carácter local apoyándose, entre otros elementos, en el entretenimiento popular egipcio del sāmir (velada nocturna).},

He wrote it basing, among others elements, on the sāmir, a popular night entertaiment in Egypt.},
