abstract = {The text of this article was presented as a report in the III Congress of the International Federation of Studies about Latin America and the Caribbean, which took place at State University of New York at Buffalo, in Amherst, New York, September, 1987. The author's thesis is that the anthropologist of the Third World should have an honest attitude of solidarity toward the majority of his country’s people if he doesn't want to be an accomplice to current oppression. This attitude, once committed, would be translated in both theory and practice.},
