abstract = {La relación sincrética entre diversas culturas que, durante el período colonial, llegaron a configurar «lo cubano», fue dando origen al fenómeno de la santería. La santería aparece como el resultado cubano de la integración y continuidad cultural de elementos étnicos y religiosos de los participantes africanos y españoles, ocurrido en el proceso de definición de la nacionalidad cubana. En la santería sobreviven cultos a los orishas o divinidades de origen africano, principalmente yoruba, bajo el culto a las imágenes de santos católicos.},
abstract = {The syncretic relationship between diverse cultures that, during the colonial period, resulted in the configuration of «the Cuban reality», gave rise to the phenomenon of Santería (holy healers using religious rituals). Santería appeared as a result of the integration and cultural continuity of ethnic and religious elements of African and Spanish cultures during the process of the developement of the Cuban nationality. Santería preserves some of the cults of the Orishas, divinities of African origin, mainly Yoruba, through the cult images of Catholic saints.},
