en el que se libra una batalla permanente entre las tentaciones de corrupción a las que invita un
sistema deshumanizado que ha encontrado en el dinero toda su religión y la voluntad irreductible
de algunos individuos por construir la alternativa. Vilalta nos sitúa frente a una ventana en la que
la creatividad y el amor se convierten en un instrumento para la esperanza y en el mecanismo inalterable
para imaginar un estado diferente de las cosas, incluida su realidad material. Al imaginar
una bahía donde apenas hay un suburbio lleno de violencia y pobreza, el protagonista de la obra,
Brian, inicia un ejercicio contrahegemónico que se superpone al lapidario realismo capitalista.},
abstract = {Con vista a la bahía (2010), the latest work by the Spanish-Mexican playwright Maruxa Vilalta,
characterises the precarious and stark life of the great American capitalist city, a chronotope in
which a permanent battle is waged between the temptations of corruption invited by a dehumanised
system that has found in money its entire religion and the irreducible will of some individuals
to build the alternative. Vilalta places us in front of a window in which creativity and love become
an instrument for hope and the unalterable mechanism for imagining a different state of things,
including their material reality. By imagining a bay where there is barely a suburb full of violence
and poverty, the play's protagonist, Brian, initiates a counter-hegemonic exercise that overlaps
with lapidary capitalist realism.},
