abstract = {The Teacher Training College (Escuela Normal) of Granada has been scarcely researched from 
the perspective of the history of education. This paper examines its history by reviewing the 
personal file of Professor Encarnación Megías Manzano, who taught at the institution from 
1898 to 1948. She joined after receiving an award from La Sociedad Económica de Amigos 
del Pais for her essay “Women´s Education”, and her file includes various merits and 
commendations. Then the Female Teacher Training College (Escuela Normal de Maestras) 
paralleled the social and political situations that plagued the city of Granada during the first 
half of the 20th century. This investigation followed the historical-educational method, 
reviewing the personal files of this and other teachers who worked during the period 
investigated, as well as secondary sources on historical education. This paper, with a gender 
perspective, concludes how the Teacher Training College, through its faculty, facilitated gaps 
in the city of Granda had the opportunity to be modified through the roles played by successive 
directors and teachers at the Teacher Training School.},
abstract = {La Escuela Normal de Granada ha sido escasamente investigada desde la historia de la 
educación. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo acercase a su historia desde la revisión del 
expediente personal de la profesora Encarnación Megías Manzano, que ejerció desde 1898 
hasta 1948 en dicha institución. Ingresó tras haber sido premiada por la Sociedad Económica 
de Amigos del País por el escrito “La educación de la Mujer” y en su expediente se recogen 
diferentes méritos y felicitaciones. La entonces Escuela Normal Superior de Maestras tuvo un 
recorrido en paralelo a las situaciones sociales y políticas que recorrió la ciudad de Granada 
durante la primera mitad del S. XX. Esta indagación ha seguido el método histórico-educativo, 
revisando el expediente personal de esta y otras profesoras que ejercieron durante el periodo 
investigado, además de fuentes secundarias históricos educativas. Este trabajo con perspectiva 
de género concluye cómo la Escuela Normal, a través de su claustro, posibilitó fisuras en el 
modelo tradicional impuesto en la educación de las mujeres. Los modelos femeninos 
establecidos en la ciudad de Granada tuvieron la oportunidad de modificarse a través de los 
roles que jugaron las sucesivas directoras y profesoras de la Escuela Normal de Maestras.},
