abstract = {El convento carmelita de la Virgen de la Cabeza, que en 1572 se trasladó al lugar donde
hoy tiene su sede el Ayuntamiento de Granada, fue uno de los principales centros de vida religiosa de la ciudad durante la época moderna. En 1595 el entonces Prior general de la Orden,
Giovanni Stefano Chizzola, realizó una visita canónica, cuya documentación se conserva en Roma
en el archivo histórico de la Orden Carmelita. Las visitas eran realizadas periódicamente por los
superiores de la Orden precisamente para verificar el estado de los conventos y comunidades
religiosas dispersos por los territorios católicos. En este artículo presentamos la transcripción
completa de la documentación relativa a la visita de 1595, que ofrece una imagen de la vida del
convento carmelita de Granada entre finales del siglo XVI y los primeros años del siglo XVII, de
su comunidad religiosa, así como de su patrimonio y sus principales devociones. Está precedido
por algunas reflexiones realizadas a partir de interesantes datos que han salido a la luz en el curso
de mis investigaciones en otros archivos romanos.},
abstract = {The Carmelite convent of the Virgen de la Cabeza, which in 1572 moved to the place where
the Granada City Council is now based, was one of the main centers of religious life in the city
during the modern era. In 1595 the then Prior General of the Order, Giovanni Stefano Chizzola,
made a canonical visit, the documentation of which is preserved in Rome in the historical archive of
the Carmelite Order. The visits were carried out periodically by the superiors of the Order precisely
to verify the state of the convents and religious communities scattered throughout the Catholic
territories. In this article we present the complete transcription of the documentation relating to
the 1595 visit, which offers an image of the life of the Carmelite convent of Granada between
the end of the 16th century and the first years of the 17th century, of its religious community,
as well as of his heritage and his main devotions. It is preceded by some reflections based on
interesting data that have come to light in the course of my research in other Roman archives.},
