abstract = {Tecnologías emergentes como la inteligencia artificial y el big data, están revolucionando la investigación biomédica y abriendo nuevas oportunidades para mejorar la salud pública, pero también generan dudas sobre el bienestar, la equidad y la seguridad de individuos y poblaciones. Este capítulo explora los retos éticos que plantea la integración de datos genómicos y de salud en el contexto del proyecto PROTECT-CHILD, que utiliza ciencia de datos y bioinformática para mejorar los resultados en trasplantes pediátricos. Examinaremos los aspectos éticos y legales de esta investigación, abordando reflexiones sobre la protección de los datos personales y la privacidad, el uso secundario de datos, los hallazgos incidentales, el uso de la inteligencia artificial y las dimensiones de género y sexo. Se evidenciarán las tensiones normativas de este proyecto dependiendo de si se adopta una perspectiva de ética clínica o de ética en salud pública.},
abstract = {Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data are revolutionising biomedical research and opening up new opportunities to improve public health, while also raising concerns about the well-being, equity and safety of individuals and populations. This chapter explores the ethical challenges arising from the integration of genomic and health data in the context of the PROTECT-CHILD project, which applies data science and bioinformatics to improve outcomes in paediatric transplantation. We examine the legal and ethical dimensions of this research, including issues related to data protection and privacy, secondary use of data, incidental findings, the application of artificial intelligence, and the integration of sex and gender perspectives. The chapter highlights how normative tensions within the project vary depending on whether we adopt a clinical ethics lens or a public health ethics approach.},
