abstract = {The objective of this study is to examine the activities undertaken by women's 
associations and their social, economic, and environmental impact in rural municipalities 
with the most adverse demographic trends in the province of Granada, Andalusia. This is 
done to compare these findings with the perspectives of public administrations on the role 
of these associations. The methodological approach involves a comprehensive literature 
review to understand the status of rural women in Andalusia and the structure of rural 
women's associations. This is followed by an analysis of the sociodemographic 
characteristics of municipalities with the most negative demographic trends, and the 
deployment of questionnaires directed at both the representatives of women's associations 
and local administrations in the areas where these organizations operate. 
The results highlight that these associations, primarily composed of older women, 
significantly contribute to the well-being of their members, enhance social cohesion 
within the territory and promote gender equality in the municipalities where they are 
active. These associations are key actors in rural development; however, they require 
increased financial support and greater visibility to fully realize their potential in 
combating depopulation, addressing persistent gender inequalities in rural areas, and 
fostering the retention of younger women.},
