abstract = {Esta tesis, enfocada en la creación artística, investiga la imagen que se da del
envejecimiento en las novelas gráficas. La hipótesis se centra en que el rescate de
memoria de las personas mayores colabora con la dignificación de su colectivo
que es discriminado en la sociedad actual, y que sus historias de vida, esconden
interés y aprendizaje para la sociedad, siendo la novela gráfica un medio ideal para
transmitirlas. La tesis se divide en dos partes, una teórica y otra práctica. En la
teórica se realiza una prospección de novelas gráficas actuales cuyas narrativas
giran en torno a las personas mayores, con el objeto de conocer qué imagen sobre
el envejecimiento se desprende de ellas. A través de un análisis eminentemente
cualitativo, se extraen una serie de tipologías a partir de sus mensajes
fundamentales entre las cuales la tipología sobre búsquedas identitarias es la
predominante, evidenciando que la incorporación de las personas mayores implica
principalmente una inquietud personal del autor. Por otra parte, son pocas las
narrativas donde las personas mayores se muestran agentes de su vida, dejando
de relieve la importancia de la visibilización de este colectivo como reflejo de
diversidad para el desarrollo de obras creativas. En la parte práctica se
desarrollaron una serie de obras artísticas, de las cuales destaca la novela gráfica
Mate Dulce, realizada a partir del rescate de memoria de una anciana del interior
del Uruguay –mi abuela–. El objetivo fundamental de esta novela es representar
las historias de vida de la familia de origen, viviendo estafas, abandonos y abusos
a comienzos del s. XX en Uruguay. Para su realización se destaca el uso de
herramientas de la metodología biográfico-narrativa e investigación artística. La
investigación revela que el hecho de brindar tiempo y escucha a una persona
mayor, la dignifica. Y esta dignificación se refleja en todo su colectivo como
referente de la sabiduría y el valor de la ancianidad, además de significar un
reclamo de sus derechos. Así mismo, las historias de vida familiares, que no son
visibilizadas por los grandes relatos de la Historia, merecen ser puestas sobre la
mesa para reconocer el camino recorrido como sociedad hasta el presente y
proyectarnos hacia el futuro. Finalmente, la novela gráfica, por su trayectoria en la
literatura de lo íntimo, resulta idónea para estos fines.},
abstract = {This thesis, focused on artistic creation, investigates the image of aging given
in graphic novels. The hypothesis is that the recovery of memories of older people
contributes to the dignification of their group, which is discriminated against in
today's society, and that their life stories hide interest and learning for society, with
graphic novels being an ideal medium to transmit them. The thesis is divided into
two parts, one theoretical and one practical. In the theoretical part, a survey of
current graphic novels is carried out whose narratives revolve around older people,
in order to find out what image of aging emerges from them. Through an eminently
qualitative analysis, a series of typologies are extracted from their fundamental
messages, among which the typology on identity searches is the predominant one,
showing that the incorporation of older people mainly implies a personal concern
of the author. On the other hand, there are few narratives where older people are
shown to be agents of their lives, highlighting the importance of making this group
visible as a reflection of diversity for the development of creative works. In the
practical part, a series of artistic works were developed, of which the graphic novel
Mate Dulce stands out, created based on the memory rescue of an elderly woman
from the interior of Uruguay –my grandmother–. The fundamental objective of this
novel is to represent the life stories of the family of origin, experiencing scams,
abandonment and abuse at the beginning of the 20th century in Uruguay. For its
realization, the use of tools from the biographical-narrative methodology and
artistic research stands out. The research reveals that the fact of giving time and
listening to an older person dignifies them. And this dignification is reflected in
their entire group as a reference for the wisdom and value of old age, in addition to
signifying a claim for their rights. Likewise, family life stories, which are not made
visible by the great narratives of History, deserve to be put on the table to
recognize the path taken as a society up to the present and project ourselves
towards the future. Finally, the graphic novel, due to its trajectory in intimate
literature, is ideal for these purposes.},
