As a member of the Eurozone, the Iberian country suffered the consequences of the financial crisis that hit the world between 2008 and 2013, specifically as it saw the evolution of its internal process provoke the flight of young brains abroad and accelerate the internationalization of companies and universities. As one of the most preferred destinations was Brazil, this movement gave rise to a growth in interest in learning the Portuguese language and the various aspects of its culture.
