abstract = {In Spain, environmental history has evolved from 1980s agrarian history. One of its principal aims is to create a framework for the interpretation of the metabolism between agro-ecosystems and rural communities. Another important fi eld of interest that has been gaining increasing importance is the study of the impact of privatization on the access to common environmental goods, and social resistance to this privatization, a result of the mercantilization of rural economies and the assigning of monetary value to resources previously subject to customary ways of management. Spanish environmental history shares this social- environmental bent with other emergent historiographies worldwide. It has also developed an important connection with the environmental historiography of the “South”, which has forged an interdisciplinary link with Political Ecology and Ecological Economy. This article proposes to examine the origin, development and future of environmental history in Spanish historiography. It will focus on the increasing number of workgroups that have broken the mode of conventional methodology and opened themselves up to the influences of historiographies of other, non-European realities.},
abstract = {En España, la historia ambiental ha evolucionado a partir de la historia agraria de los años ochenta. Uno de sus principales objetivos es crear un marco para la interpretación del metabolismo entre los agroecosistemas y las comunidades rurales. Otro importante campo de interés que ha ido cobrando cada vez mayor importancia es el estudio del impacto de la privatización en el acceso a los bienes comunes ambientales y la resistencia social a esta privatización, fruto de la mercantilización de las economías rurales y la asignación de valor monetario a recursos antes sujetos a formas consuetudinarias de gestión. La historia ambiental española comparte este sesgo socioambiental con otras historiografías emergentes en todo el mundo. También ha desarrollado una importante conexión con la historiografía ambiental del «Sur», que ha forjado un vínculo interdisciplinar con la Ecología Política y la Economía Ecológica. l presente artículo se propone examinar el origen, desarrollo y futuro de la historia ambiental en la historiografía española. Se centrará en el creciente número de grupos de trabajo que han roto el modo de metodología convencional y se han abierto a las influencias de historiografías de otras realidades no europeas.},
