abstract = {Georgia O’Keeffe y Berenice Abbott fueron dos de las grandes artistas norteamericanas de la modernidad: pintora y fotógrafa, respectivamente. En la década de 1930, ambas se interesaron por retratar Nueva York, ciudad que habitaban y a la que llegaron desde sus orígenes en la América profunda: Wisconsin y Ohio. En sus miradas hacia la ciudad contemporánea por antonomasia, más allá de las personas y su actividad frenética, el rascacielos es el protagonista indiscutible. Ambas ayudaron a construir la imagen de una ciudad en crecimiento hacia lo alto. Con sus imágenes consolidaron una manera de verla, hoy incuestionable. Esta comunicación muestra los cruces de miradas entre estas dos artistas a una ciudad ahora indisociable de las imágenes con que ellas la mostraron desde sus experiencias visuales. Sus miradas cruzadas, entre lo fotográfico y lo pictórico, constituyen un documento excepcional de la construcción del imaginario del Nueva York moderno.},
abstract = {Georgia O’Keeffe and Berenice Abbott were two of the great modern American artists: painter and photographer, respectively. In the 1930s, both were interested in portraying New York, the city they lived in and came to from their origins in the American heartland of Wisconsin and Ohio. In their gazes of the quintessential contemporary city, beyond the people and its frenetic lifestyle, the skyscraper is the undisputed protagonist. Both helped to build the image of a city growing upwards. With their images they consolidated a way of looking at it, today unquestionable. This communication shows the crossroads of these two artists’ view of a city now inseparable from the images they made to show it from their visual experiences. Their crossed glances, between the photographic and the pictorial, constitute an exceptional document of the construction of the imaginary of modern New York.},
