abstract = {Las primeras guías de arquitectura moderna surgieron en la década de 1930. El empuje
inicial mostrado por Alemania y que produjo la excepcional Neues Bauen in Berlin (1931)
desapareció cuando el Tercer Reich impuso sus directrices sobre arquitectura moderna a
mediados de la década. New Sights of London (1938) se engloba dentro de la larga tradición
británica de guías de viaje, de la que, sin embargo, constituye un ejemplo singular. Guide to
Modern Architecture: Northeast States (1940) fue la primera aportación americana al ámbito
de las guías de arquitectura, pero también la última surgida antes del final de la Segunda
Guerra Mundial; hasta 1951 no se reanudará completamente la producción de este tipo de
publicaciones.
La presente comunicación pone en contexto y analiza las tres guías mencionadas, publicaciones
pioneras en su campo, ofreciendo una visión panorámica del origen de este formato
editorial y ayudando a entender su desarrollo futuro.},
abstract = {Modern architectural guides appeared in the 1930s. The initial thrust shown by Germany,
which produced the exceptional Neues Bauen in Berlin (1931), vanished when the Third
Reich imposed its guidelines on modern architecture in the middle of the decade. New
Sights of London (1938) was a product of the long British tradition of travel guides, of which,
however, it is a unique example. Guide to Modern Architecture: Northeast States (1940) was
the first American contribution to the field of architectural guidebooks, but also the last to
appear before the end of World War II; it was not until 1951 that the production of this type
of publication would fully resume.
The present communication puts into context and analyzes these three guides, pioneering
publications in their field, offering a panoramic view of the origin of this editorial format and
helping to understand its future development.},
