Ciudad de México en busca de la nueva arquitectura. Al igual que otros visitantes extranjeros,
Born apreciaba encontrar en su camino imágenes primitivas, no obstante, dijo sorprenderse
ante la gran cantidad de arquitectura moderna, mayor que la de su propio país.
El reportaje de Born apareció por primera vez en 1937 como un añadido al número de abril
de Architectural Record y después como el libro The New Architecture in Mexico. Con una

abstract = {In 1936 Esther Born, architect and photographer traveled by car from New York to Mexico
City in search of the new architecture. Like other foreign visitors, Born appreciated finding
primitive images on her way, however, she said he was surprised by the large amount of
modern architecture, greater than that of her own country.
Born’s report first appeared in 1937 as an addendum to the April issue of Architectural
Record and later as the book The New Architecture in Mexico. With a powerful visual narrative,
the book defended the architecture of the most absolute modernity with a combative
tone, while it also included images and buildings that did not fully conform to these
parameters and that coincided with the regional turn of the modern movement in the late
thirties. Its complex intellectual discourse illuminates the historical moment between the
wars.},
