Abstract

Desde nuestra posición, bastión de seguridad y absolutas certezas, observamos otras culturas. Sus tradiciones, creencias, ritos, organización social y forma de organizar el mundo que les rodea y en que se desenvuelven nos resultan absolutamente ajenas y difíciles de comprender. Cada cultura mira a las demás con la seguridad de estar en lo correcto, viendo en esas otras sociedades actitudes enajenadas carentes de lógica y, en ocasiones, de humanidad. Si rasgamos el cendal que cubre esas interpretaciones ajenas de la realidad nos encontramos con los codificadores culturales, alguno de ellos con base biológica, que habilitan la "humanización del mundo". Estos moduladores permiten al Homo sapiens aprehender la realidad circundante y transformarla en suya propia. En este complejo proceso, el lenguaje, por un lado, y la religión, por otro, juegan roles determinantes en la composición de un paisaje fragmentado que envuelve a cada cultura. El presente ensayo pretende, de manera escueta y aproximativa, resaltar la importancia, a veces y en ciertos estudios olvidada, que ambos sistemas simbólicos poseen y el peso semiótico que ejercen sobre la interacción ser humano-entorno.

We observe other cultures from our position, bastion of security and absolute certainties. Their traditions, beliefs, rites, social organizations and ways of understanding the world which surrounds them and in which they develop, turn out to be strange for us and difficult to comprehend. Each culture views the other with the certainty, that it is right , and sees by the other societies strange attitudes with failure of logic and, from time to time, of humanity. If we tear the gauze of different interpretations of the reality that are based on cultural codes, we will find some of them based biologically, that supply the humanization of the world. These modulators permit Homo sapiens to apprehend the surrounding reality and to transform it into its own. Language, on one hand, and religion, on the other, play the determining roles in this complex process of connecting the fragmented landscape in each culture. The present trial intends to emphasis in a simple and approximate way the importance, which is from time to time neglected in certain studies, which both symbolic systems possess and the semiotic weight they exercise on the interaction between the human and the environment.
