Derived from an anthropological study, this work explores how processes of change such as emigration from rural to urban areas, maquila industry development, and legislation on paternity, gender, and family influenced family social reorganization in Ciudad Victoria, a northern Mexican city located close to the south-east of the United States of America, and modelled ideologies as well as gender relations between men and women from different generations and occupations.
