Las actividades sobre tablas estadísticas en textos escolares chilenos de educación básica

Abstract

En este trabajo presentamos un estudio que aborda la caracterización de la actividad matemática que se pide al estudiante sobre tablas estadísticas, así como el tipo de tabla estadística propuesta en dichas actividades. Los textos analizados se dirigen a los niveles de 5º a 8º curso (10 a 13 años) de educación básica y se distribuyen gratuitamente por el Ministerio de Educación en Chile para la enseñanza de la matemática, tanto para estudiantes como docentes. En los resultados obtenidos destacamos que la principal actividad planteada al estudiante es la de leer y realizar cálculos a través de una tabla, descuidando otro tipo de actividades de gran relevancia en su comprensión como es la construcción de la misma, entre otras. Además, la mayor parte de actividades se centran en la tabla de frecuencias.

In this paper we present a study focuses on the characterization of the mathematical activity that the student is asked to perform on statistical tables, as well as the type of statistical table proposed in these activities. The texts analysed are distributed free of charge by the Ministry of Education in Chile for the teaching of mathematics, both for students and teachers, in the levels of 5th to 8th grade (10 to 13 years) of basic education. We emphasize that the main activity proposed to the student is to read and perform calculations through a table, neglecting other types of activities of great relevance in understanding how the construction of the table, among others. In addition, most activities focus on the frequency table.
