La presente tesis doctoral versa sobre los efectos de un programa de actividad física mediante el método Pilates en el embarazo y el parto. Se estructura en los siguientes apartados: (a) introducción, (b) objetivos, (c) metodología, (d) resultados, (e) discusión y (f) conclusiones.
Durante el embarazo el cuerpo de la mujer está sujeto a numerosos cambios anatómicos
y fisiológicos para permitir el desarrollo fetal. Ante estos cambios, la práctica regular de ejercicio físico moderado tiene efectos positivos sobre una gestante sana, aportando beneficios durante el embarazo, el parto y el puerperio. En conclusión, un programa de actividad física de ocho semanas por medio del método
Pilates mejora parámetros funcionales en las gestantes, en la calidad de movimiento y podría beneficiar la finalización del parto.
