En el desarrollo de esta investigación se realizaron tres estudios. En el estudio I, se buscó determinar el efecto de la actividad física de moderada a alta intensidad sobre las variables de composición corporal (porcentaje de masa grasa, índice de masa corporal y peso) y consumo de oxígeno máximo en un grupo de adolescentes escolares.
En el estudio II, se analizaron los efectos de un programa extraescolar de juegos reducidos basado en el fútbol sobre la satisfacción de las necesidades psicológicas básicas y la motivación en las clases de educación física.
Finalmente, en el estudio III, se analizaron los efectos de un programa de juegos reducidos basados en el fútbol, en la motivación y el estado de flow en las clases de educación física escolar.
Los resultados del estudio I, mostraron efectos positivos del programa de juegos reducidos en el grupo experimental en las medidas porcentaje de masa grasa y consumo máximo de oxígeno. Asimismo, un descenso en los valores de índice de masa corporal entre el pretest y el postest, en el grupo experimental aunque no en el control.
En el estudio II, los resultados indicaron efectos positivos del programa de juegos redicidos sobre la motivación intrínseca, la regulación extrínseca, la desmotivación y la necesidad de competencia. Los datos encontrados sugieren que la participación en horario extraescolar podría incidir en la manera de afrontar las clases de educación física.
Finalmente en el estudio III, los resultados mostraron efectos positivos del programa de juegos reducidos sobre la regulación intrínseca, la regulación introyectada, la desmotivación, la percepción del equilibrio reto-habilidad, la distorsión del tiempo y la experiencia autotélica. Estos datos sugieren que la participación deportiva en horario extraescolar podría incidir en la motivación y el estado de flow con el que se afrontan las clases de educación física, mejorando la experiencia de práctica en este contexto. En conclusión y a la luz de los resultados presentados, un programa extraescolar de juegos reducidos basados en el fútbol da evidencias de efectos significativos sobre algunos indicadores de salud (composición corporal, consumo de oxígeno máximo y motivacionales) en un grupo de adolescentes.
