La importancia que tiene en relación con el medio ambiente la gestión de los residuos
de la construcción y la demolición (RCD) ha fomentado las actuaciones encaminadas a
promover la reutilización, el reciclado y otras formas de poner el valor el residuo. Todo
ello con el objetivo de conseguir un desarrollo sostenible en las actividades que
intervienen en el proceso constructivo. Esto supone una disminución de importantes
volúmenes de material destinados a vertedero, y, una minimización de las
aportaciones de material de préstamo. De este modo, el avance en la reutilización de
estos materiales contribuirá a reducir notablemente el impacto ambiental de las obras.
La finalidad de este proyecto es verificar la idoneidad técnica de materiales
procedentes de residuos de la construcción, como materiales constitutivos de las capas
inferiores del firme de carreteras. Se han comparado en condiciones de tráfico real dos
tramos, uno construido con zahorra reciclada, fabricada con áridos reciclados mixtos
provenientes de RCD, y otro construido con zahorra de cantera, fabricada con
materiales naturales.
Los tramos de estudio se encuentran situados en la obra de la “Conexión de la A-367
(desde la Venta del Cordobés) con la A-357”, en la provincia de Málaga, que se
corresponden en la actualidad con los primeros cinco kilómetros de la carretera “A-367
Ardales-Ronda”. Los materiales de la investigación se ubicaron en los ramales de
aceleración y deceleración que unen la A-357 (carretera Campillos-Málaga) con la A-
367 y formaron parte del firme clasificado como flexible.
