En el se de la península ibérica se ha estudiado la cozologia de las aves midificantes sobre una extensión de 12200 km cuadrados mediante el uso de alto ornitológico. Se ha establecido la distribución altitudinal de las aves la composición de las comunidades asentadas sobre los diversos biotopos y un intento de análisis biogeográfico según la ovifauna presente en la actualidad. por último se ha establecido la evolución histórica de la ovifauna midificante en los últimos 130 años. En la actualidad hemos encontrado 147 especies de aves midificantes habiendo desaparecido de la región 20 en los últimos 130 años. La riqueza específica disminuye con la altitud y con el desplazamiento hacia el e. La distribución altitudinal de los tres esta condicionada por la estructura de la vegetación
