Creating isolating mechanisms through digital servitization: The case of Covirán Sanchez-Montesinos, Francisco Opazo-Basaez, Marco Arias Aranda, Daniel Bustinza Sánchez, Óscar Fernando This research was supported by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 MSCA project “MAKERS: Smart Manufacturing for EU Growth and Prosperity” with grant agreement number 691192, and the Spanish Government under Grant ECO2014-58472-R. Digital servitization allows companies to establish specific entry barriers and create isolating mechanisms to maintain their products’ competitive advantage. Rapid linking of technologies with products has introduced new mechanisms to deliver services that complement product offerings. This business environment has significantly affected food companies in the retail sector, where companies have begun to implement and rely on digital solutions to support business operations to fulfill changing market conditions. The study demonstrates how the Covirán cooperative is improving service provision through digital capabilities to generate isolating mechanisms that enable the company to achieve a superior competitive position. 2021-09-06T11:36:38Z 2021-09-06T11:36:38Z 2018-03-26 info:eu-repo/semantics/article Published version: Strategic Change. 2018;27(2):121–128 [https://doi.org/10.1002/jsc.2187] http://hdl.handle.net/10481/70116 https://doi.org/10.1002/jsc.2187 eng info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/EC/H202/691192 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/es/ info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess Atribución-NoComercial-SinDerivadas 3.0 España Wiley
