Introduction: All over the world, injuries due to traffic accidents, falls and drownings are the three main causes of death due to non-intensive injuries. The polytraumatized patient is defined as that patient who presents multiple traumatic lesions in different anatomical areas. It has been observed in multiple studies that the complete body tomography performed on the patient with severe trauma increases the probability of timely diagnosis, reduction in the time of exploration and improves the prognosis. Objective: To analyze the benefits through full body tomography and specific organ tomography, in the polytraumatized patient, involved in a high energy accident, attended in the Rovirosa Hospital Emergency Room. Material and Methods: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study of 94 patients was performed, who underwent complete body tomography and specific organ tomography, as well as time spent in the emergency room, time to surgery. and time to pass to UCI. Results: Of the 94 files of patients who suffered a high-energy accident, 66 were men and 28 women, with a minimum age of 16 years and a maximum age of 72. 74 patients underwent specific organ tomography and 20 of them had a CT scan. whole body. Of the patients who underwent complete body tomography, 77% had a stay of less than one day in the Emergency Department, there was a reduction in time to surgery and time to ICU. Conclusions: It was concluded that the whole body tomography that suffer high energy accident reduces the time of stay in the emergency room, time to surgery and time to ICU, improves the work flow in the patient care polytraumatized, edema of the Recognition of life-threatening injuries. 2019-07-03T07:34:10Z 2019-07-03T07:34:10Z 2019-04-30 info:eu-repo/semantics/article Perez-Mendoza, K.; et al.
