Curanderismo y trance. Curanderas de Kazajistán

Abstract

El presente trabajo aporta una descripción etnográfica de tres curanderas kazajas residentes en la ciudad de Alma Ata, capital, hasta el año 1997, de la República de Kazajistán. Estos casos se contextualizan históricamente en el modelo de chamanismo altaico. Se analiza este material desde los presupuestos teóricos del curanderismo-chamanismo y se establece una comparación con las representaciones y prácticas curanderiles de otros ámbitos culturales, concretamente con Granada (Andalucía). Así se profundiza en el fenómeno del curanderismo-chamanismo por vía de comparación intercultural. Se propone añadir a la tipología de curanderos ya elaborada un nuevo tipo, representativo en las curanderas de Kazajistán, que sería el "curandero chamán", que se caracterizaría por la importancia del estado de trance en el proceso curativo.

In this work we present an ethnographic description of three healers in the city of Almaty, the capital, until 1997, of the Repulic of Kazakhstan. These cases are historically contextualized within the Altaic Shamanism model. The material is analyzed using the theroetical assumptions of faith healing-shamanism. A comparison of the representations and practices of faith healers from other cultural backgrounds, specifically those from Granada (Andalusia), is given. This intercultural comparison deepends our understanding of the phenomenon of faith healing-shamanism. The addition of a new type of faith healing to those already defined is proposed, one that is representative of the faith healing of Kazakhstan: the faith-healing shaman, characterized by the importance of the trance state in the curative process.
