dc.description.abstract | The immigrant's cultural break from Syrian and the Islamic religion is a continuous source of anguish and anxiety, in ways that in most cases trigger psycopathologies. We found this fact central in the cultural clash that these individuals become exposed to on finding themselves in a foreign culture where their network of meanings are not applicable, in a culture that can be described as the opposite of that found in Islamic Syria —that is, a “matrisocial” context. This difference constitutes one of the greatest sources of anguish for Syrian Muslims because they belong to a "patrilineal" culture. In addition, they from theocratic nations, where the social and cultural norms are established in the Koran. Many other causes of anxiety arise, which can be summarized as: unemployment, ignorance of the language, rules of behaviour, modes of dress, etc. In this way, we found in the anthropology and its concept of culture a game complementary to psychoanalysis, which serves as an instrument to understand the fact of immigration; in essence, we have anthropology and culture definition as instruments of understanding. | en |
