Los sueños y su importancia en el pronóstico y tratamiento de la vivienda de los wayuu en Venezuela

Abstract

Este artículo analiza desde una visión sociocultural, cómo los sueños (lapü) pronostican la adquisición o no de una vivienda, e interpreta los símbolos y mensajes que lapü indica para el tratamiento de un "mal" puesto sobre una casa entre los wayuu de la ciudad de Maracaibo. Se partió desde la teoría de Goulet (1992) y Perrin (1981), empleándose el método etnográfico para entrevistar a cuatro informantes clave del barrio 23 de Marzo, Maracaibo, Venezuela. Se demostró que las narraciones oníricas del wayuu tienen plena relación con las viviendas en las que habitan y siguen las expectativas de sus vidas cotidianas en el contexto urbano. Lapü influye en la conducta y acciones de los vivos (mundo anasü) en conexión con lo sagrado (mundo pulasü), permitiendo a los wayuu superponer sus creencias primarias con rituales y creencias de las religiones católica, evangélica y el rito marialioncero para plasmarlas en su cultura material.

This article analyses from a social-cultural standpoint, how dreams ('lapü') forecast the acquisition or not of a habitat, and interprets the symbols and messages that the 'lapü' indicates for the treatment of an evil spell cast on a house among the Wayuu from the city of Maracaibo, Venezuela. With the theories of Goulet (1992) and Perrin (1991) as starting point, the ethnographic method was used to interview four key informants from the "23 de Marzo" neighbourhood in the city of Maracaibo. It was evident that the oneiric narrations of the Wayuu are fully related to the quarters in which they live and follow the expectations of their daily lives in the urban context, The 'lapü' influences the conduct and actions of the living ('anasü' world) with regard to the sacred ('pulasü' world), allowing the Wayuu to superimpose their primary beliefs with the rituals and beliefs of the catholic and evangelical religions and with the marialionza rituals in order to adapt them to their material culture.
