“¿Qué buscas, viajero?”. Naguib Mahfuz contra el esencialismo en el islam

Abstract

Este artículo se centra en la novela de Naguib Mahfuz _El viaje del hijo de Fatuma_, una obra especialmente significativa tanto por la temática como por el momento de su publicación. En ella el autor toma parte en el debate del pensamiento árabe contemporáneo sobre el futuro de islam, pero a la luz de un marco intercultural y filosófico más amplio: la condición humana y algunos de sus ideales. This article focuses on the novel by Naguib Mahfouz _The Journey of Ibn Fattouma_, a particularly significant work by both the subject and the time of publication. In it the author takes part in the discussion of contemporary Arab thought on the future of Islam in the light of a broader philosophical and intercultural framework: the human condition and some of its ideals.
