Adaptación de sucursales del Banco de España a fines museísticos

Abstract

El objetivo principal de este artículo es analizar la adaptación de algunas de las antiguas sedes del Banco de España como espacios museísticos. Para contextualizar y comprender mejor este novedoso tema, explicaremos en primer lugar la tipología de estos edificios (su historia, sus cualidades formales y su evolución). En segundo lugar, haremos un recorrido por las sucursales bancarias que cerraron sus puertas y los usos asignados a cada una de ellas, subrayando sus valores patrimoniales y la problemática que plantea su adaptación y, finalmente, nos detendremos concretamente en las que se han convertido o se convertirán en museos.

The main aim of this article is to analyse the adaptation of some of the former branches of the Bank of Spain to museum spaces. To contextualize and better understand this new heritage subject, we will first explain the typology of these buildings (their history, formal qualities and evolution). Second, we will go through the bank premises nowadays closed and the uses assigned to each of them, stressing their heritage values and the problems related to their adaptation to new functions. Finally, we will specifically deal with those bank branches that have been or will be converted into museums.
