Trabajadoras sexuales africanas, entre el estigma y la crisis

Abstract

Este artículo muestra algunos resultados obtenidos de la investigación desarrollada durante el año 2011 en el Poniente de Almería, donde mujeres procedentes del continente africano ejercen la prostitución y cuyos clientes son en su mayoría inmigrados de muy diferentes orígenes nacionales. El trabajo se abordó mediante metodología cualitativa donde la opinión de los distintos sujetos ha sido la fuente privilegiada de obtención de datos primarios, junto con la observación participante del propio investigador. Los resultados obtenidos ponen de manifiesto cómo el estigma que pesa sobre esas personas, el marco legal en que se mueven y la crisis económica obstaculizan el normal desenvolvimiento de sus vidas, dificultando su trabajo, reduciendo sus ámbitos de sociabilidad, modificando sus pautas residenciales, deteriorando su economía y aumentando los riesgos en salud, además de infligirles un acentuado temor e inquietud en sus dinámicas cotidianas.

This paper shows some results of research conducted in 2011 in the west of Almeria, where women from Africa exercise prostitution and whose clients are mostly immigrants from different national origins. The work was addressed using qualitative methodology where the opinion of various subjects has been the prime source of primary data collection, together with the researcher's own participant observation. The results show that the stigma of these people, the legal framework in which they move, and the economic crisis hinder the normal development of their lives, making it difficult to work, reducing their areas of sociability, modifying their residential patterns, deteriorating its economy and increasing health risks, in addition to inflicting a marked fear and restlessness in their daily dynamics.
