La burda de al-Būsīrī

Abstract

El presente artículo recoge la traducción al español del poema conocido como al-Burda (“el manto”), obra del poeta de inspiración mística Šaraf al-Dīn al-Būsīrī (s. XIII). La Burda, dedicada al Profeta Mu.,hammad, ocupa un lugar de privilegio dentro de la poesía árabe por su esmerado estilo y por la abundante cantidad de datos biográficos acerca de la vida del Profeta recogidos en sus 160 versos. La traducción viene precedida por un breve estudio sobre la vida del autor, los antecedentes literarios del poema en cuestión, su estructura interna, y otros aspectos.

The present article includes the Spanish translation of the poem known as al-Burda’ (“the shawl”), written by the mystic poet Šaraf al-Dīn al-Būsīrī (13th century). The Burda, a composition dedicated to Prophet Mu.,hammad, has a preeminent place in Arabic poetry because of its accurate style, and the great amount of biographical information on the Prophet’s life contained in its 160 verses. In the article, the translation is preceeded by a short study of its author’s life, the literary precedents of the main composition, its internal structure as well as other aspects.
