Fray Rafael Rodríguez Mohedano (1722-1787) y Cándido María Trigueros (1736-1789). Homenaje a Trigueros en el segundo centenario de su muerte

Abstract

En el vasto panorama del estudio de la erudición española en el siglo XVIII, el análisis de la correspondencia se muestra cada día más rico en noticias. Del interés del franciscano fray Rafael Rodríguez Mohedano por conocer la obra de Cándido María Trigueros surgen diversas cartas, ricas en datos biográficos, especialmente sobre éste último. Se aprecia además que hacia 1775, fecha de las cartas, dominan en su producción las obras históricas por encima de las propiamente literarias. En definitiva, la correspondencia presentada ayuda a profundizar en el conocimiento de la Ilustración española.

In the wide scene of the studies about the Spanish erudition during the Eighteenth Century, the analysis of the epistolary genre is more and more richer in informations. The interest of the Franciscan Rafael Rodriguez Mohedano about the writings by Cándido María Trigueros is the origin of several letters, rich in biographical facts, specially about Trigueros personality. About 1775, when the lettres were writed, his historical pieces were more important than his literary works. Finally, the lettres here presented allow to know in depth some aspects of the Spanish Enlightenment.
