Las ventas de oficios en Castilla en tiempos de suspensión de las ventas (1600-1621)

Abstract

Este artículo estudia las ventas de cargos y ofi cios públicos en Castilla durante el reinado de Felipe III, periodo en el que, teóricamente, dichas ventas estuvieron interrumpidas como consecuencia de la aceptación y cumplimiento por parte de la Corona de aquellas condiciones de los sucesivos servicios de millones otorgados por el reino que vedaban tales prácticas venales. También se ocupa de desentrañar el signifi cado de dichas alienaciones enmarcándolas dentro del proceso general de privatización y patrimonialización de los ofi cios, y presta, por último, una especial atención a las repercusiones que en el orden constitucional y en el de las relaciones rey-reino pudieron haber tenido los incumplimientos de los compromisos regios de no enajenar.

This article studies the sales of charges and public offices in Castile during the reign of Philip III, period in which, theoretically, the above mentioned sales were interrupted as consequence of the acceptance and fulfi llment on the part of the Crown of those conditions of the successive services of millions granted by the kingdom that were forbidding such venal practices. It’s also about with uncovering the meaning of the above mentioned alienations framing them inside the general process of privatization and patrimonialization of the offices, and finally gives a special attention to the repercussions that in the constitutional order and in that of the relations king - kingdom could have had the breaches of the royal commitments of not alienating.
