La poesía árabe y los poetas españoles del siglo XIX. José Zorrilla (1829-1897)

Abstract

Hay una idea generalizada entre los historiadores de literatura española, los cuales dicen que la influencia de Oriente o de los árabes en el romanticismo español ha llegado a través de la literatura europea. Este artículo intenta demostrar que tal influencia llegó también a través de las fuentes árabes traducidas a lenguas europeas. Hemos elegido el gran poeta español José Zorrilla como ejemplo. Este poeta quería estudiar árabe, escribía en algunas de sus obras palabras con caracteres árabes, leía, según parece, a al- Maqqari, Las mil y una noches, obras de orientalistas acerca de la literatura árabe; incluso era amigo de orientalistas españoles.

There is a generalized idea among the Spanish literature historians who say that the influence of the east on the Spanish romanticism has arrived through the Europe literature. This article try to show that this influence has also arrived through the Arabic sources translated to Europeans languages. We have chosen the famous Spanish poet José Zorrilla as an example. This poet wanted to study Arabic, he wrote is some of his works Arabic letters. It seems that he read al-Maqqar§, One thousand and one nights, and some orientalists works about Arabic literature. He even was a friend of Spanish orientalists.
