El paisaje sonoro del Hospital de las Cinco Llagas de Sevilla durante la Edad Moderna

Abstract

Los hospitales de las ciudades en la Edad Moderna estaban insertos en el mundo urbano con grandes implicaciones en el ámbito socioprofesional y religioso. Por tanto, participaban de las ma-nifestaciones artísticas y sociales que caracterizan a la ciudad, sin exceptuar lo que atañe al oído. El objetivo que este estudio es conocer las manifestaciones sonoras que rodeaban al sistema hospitalario del Antiguo Régimen en la metrópoli de Sevilla, a través del más documentado de sus ejemplos: el de las Cinco Llagas. Acapara nuestra mayor atención la música tal como hoy la entendemos, pero no por ello hay que descartar una gama de sonidos de mayor o menor melodiosidad que en la época se contemplaron, más o menos metafóricamente, como tipos de música. El conjunto sonoro contribuye a crear una atmósfera que forma parte de la historia de estas instituciones benéficas y de la propia ciudad.

The hospitals in the cities of the Early Modern Age were inserted into the urban world with important implications for social-professional and religious fields. Therefore, they formed part of the artistic and social activities that characterize the city, that which affects to the hearing too. The objective of this study is to know the sounds that surrounded the hospitable system of the Golden Age in the Metropolis of Seville, by examining the most documented of its examples: the Cinco Llagas hospital. Special attention will be paid to music as we understand today, but we cannot ignore the range of sounds, of greates or lesses melodions content, that were considered as kinds of music in that period. The sounds as a whole contribute to creating an atmosphere that forms part of the History of these charitable institutions and of the city itsef.
