Tendencias y fluctuaciones en el comportamiento electoral de los pasiegos. Retóricas del porcentaje

Abstract

La sociedad pasiega ha sido objeto de análisis desde diferentes disciplinas, y se han explorado aspectos diversos de su universo cultural. Su comportamiento electoral, sin embargo, no ha recibido una atención preferente. Partiendo de un trabajo de campo y de una investigación exploratoria sobre la materia, se revisa un conjunto de hipótesis sobre su orientación a la participación electoral y a la abstención. Se utilizan datos agregados de todas las elecciones al Parlamento Europeo, de las elecciones municipales y de las elecciones al Congreso. Las tendencias, fluctuaciones y porcentajes de abstención son contrastados con los de Cantabria y España con el objetivo de fortalecer las interpretaciones y la elaboración de hipótesis.

The Pasiego society has been analysed from the standpoint of different disciplines, and diverse aspects of its cultural universe have been explored. However, its electoral behaviour has not received detailed attention. On the basis of exploratory investigation on the matter and field work, we have reviewed a set of hypotheses concerning its approach to participating in elections and to abstaining from voting. We have used aggregate data from the European Parliament poll, municipal elections, and elections to Congress. Trends, fluctuations, and abstention rates are compared with those from Cantabria and Spain as a whole with the aim of strengthening the interpretations and the formulation of hypothesis.
