Identidad y diferencia. Reproducción social y negación del otro

Abstract

La posibilidad de supervivencia histórica de las sociedades concretas está condicionada por su capacidad de autorreproducción social. La construcción y la percepción de dicha realidad son igualmente comportamientos histórico-sociales. Consecuentemente, como indica Bourdieu, «la búsqueda de formas invariables de percepción y de construcción de la realidad social enmascara diferentes cosas: primeramente, que esta construcción no se opera en un vacío social, sino que está sometida a acciones estructurales; en segundo lugar, que las estructuras estructurantes, las estructuras cognitivas, son ellas mismas socialmente estructuradas, porque tienen una génesis social; en tercer lugar, que la construcción de la realidad social no es solamente una empresa individual, sino que puede también volverse una empresa colectiva».

The possibility of the historical survival of particular societies depends on their capacity for social self-reproduction. The construction and perception of this reality are equally historical-social behaviors. Consequently, as Bourdieu indicates, «the search for invariable forms of social reality perception and construction masks different things: primarily, that this construction does not operate in a social vacuum, but rather is subject to structural actions; secondly, the structuring structures, the cognitive structures, are themselves socially structured, because they have a social genesis; third, the construction of social reality is not only an individual task, but it may also become a collective task».
