Abstract

El artículo confronta la tesis mantenida por el antropólogo Claude Lévi-Strauss acerca de la «no existencia» de la Historia y el carácter mítico de las construcciones históricas con el progresivo interés que el enfoque histórico de los problemas ha ido adquiriendo a lo largo del desarrollo de la cultura occidental. Se desvela una raíz cultural que niega la historia y que está presente en los orígenes y la configuración de nuestra cultura, tanto en su raíz griega como en su raíz judeocristiana. La confrontación de los puntos de vista de la etnología y la historia ayuda a desvelar el carácter relativo, «constructivo», que la historia tiene, en cuanto construcción cultural de Occidente, frente a otras formas culturales de tratar la temporalidad o la realidad en su conjunto.

The article confronts the thesis maintained by anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss on the «non existence» of History and the mythical character of historical constructions, in light of the progressive interest that the historical focus of problems has acquiried throughout the development of western culture. A cultural basis that denies history and that is present in the origins and the configuration of our culture is shown , as much in its Greek roots as in those of Jewish-Christian origin. The conflict between the ethnological and historial points of view helps to show the relative, «constructive», character that history has, as a cultural construction of the West, in light of other cultural forms, in the treatment of temporality or of reality as a whole.
