This report presents a series of lists of Spanish journals listed in Google Scholar Metrics (GSM), organized by scientific fields and disciplines. The rankings are sorted by h index, which is the indicator calculated by Google. The goal of this work is to identify the breadth of coverage of Spanish journals in GSM. GSM has two inclusion criteria: the journal must have published at least 100 papers in the last five years, and these papers must have received at least one citation. Bibliographic searches were carried out between the 15th and 22nd of September, 2019. 1448 unique journals have been identified, of which 891 belong to Social Sciences, 530 to Arts and Humanities, 204 to Health Sciences, and 204 to Natural Sciences and Engineering (some journals are included in more than one field). Thus, GSM has ten times the number of Spanish journals indexed in the JCR (Journal Citation Reports-Web of Science), and almost three times the number of Spanish journals indexed in SJR or Citescore (Scopus).

Since the launch of Google Scholar Metrics (April 2012), the number of journals that include this bibliometric evaluation system has been growing. However journals are only sorted by languages and topics with a top limit. In the first case Google Scholar Metrics only shows the 100 journals with the greatest impact; then it only shows the 20 journals with the greatest impact by topic, which are measured using the H index. In order to overcome this limitation, and using various search procedures, the objective of this report is to provide an update of the ranking for all those communication journals indexed in Google Scholar Metrics.
