Smartphones and apps exert a decisive influence on the tourism industry. However, cultural differences can be a barrier to technology-transfer and they influence all aspects of individuals' behavior. In this regard, cultural intelligence (CQ) enables individuals to deal more effectively with these differences, and those with a high CQ are more adaptable and able to cope in cultural environments other than their own. The aim of the present study is to propose and validate a model in which CQ is an antecedent of satisfaction with the travel app and with the tourism experience. Based on a sample of 243 Spanish tourists who used a travel app on their trip, the study finds that a tourist's CQ influences their satisfaction both with the app and with the tourism experience. It further demonstrates the influence of satisfaction with the travel app on satisfaction with the tourism experience. This research holds a series of implications of significant interest both for scholars and professionals in the tourism industry.

Los resultados ponen de manifiestoque un buen dise˜no web medido en términos funcionales es capaz de reducir, e incluso anular, talesdiferencias.; The actual markets globalization as a result of information and communication technologies development in general and the Internet in particular, have increased the importance of the user culture in online consumer behavior. This work analyzes whether the cultural values of a language influence when processing information from a website and its effect on the perceived risk online, on the development of positive attitudes toward a Web site and loyalties on the service offered therein. We propose an information-processing model based on TAM in which perceived risk online is an antecedent and consumer loyalty towards the service is the ultimate outcome In order to achieve this objective and test the proposed hypotheses, a between-subjects experimental design was chosen, using one independent variable namely with two level: processing language (Spanish vs. English). The final sample comprised 264 Spanish users. Half the sample browsed in Spanish, and the other half in English. The results demonstrated that the cultural dimension uncertainty avoidance moderates the effect of perceived risk on perceived ease of use and usefulness. Perceived ease of use or perceived usefulness influenced to attitude towards the website, depending on whether the language used to process the information on the site conveys cultural values with a shorter or longer-term orientation. Languages, as a cultural framework, didn´t moderate the relationship between attitude towards the website and loyalty towards the tourist destination.

The aim of the present research is to assess which type of online promotional incentive (monetary or non-monetary) is the most effective at achieving purchase intention for airline tickets, depending on the user’s level of Internet experience (characterized as novice, moderate, or expert user). A Univariate General Linear Model is conducted, using data obtained from an experimental design with two levels: monetary online sales promotion and non-monetary online sales promotion. The findings indicate that in the case of acquiring an airline ticket online, monetary incentives are more appealing to novice Web users, while non-monetary incentives are preferred by expert users. The present study breaks new ground in that it examines, in the travel sector, the effectiveness of online sales promotions at prompting the individual to purchase online, in a comparative analysis based on online sales incentive type (monetary vs. non-monetary). The work contributes to the literature on the online travel sector by analyzing how the user’s level of Web experience affects the effectiveness of each type of online sales promotion.; El objetivo de esta investigación es conocer qué tipo de incentivo promocional online (monetario o no monetario) es el más eficaz
usuario (novel, moderado o experto).
ofrecido (monetario vs no monetario).

The purpose of this paper is to empirically analyze the influence of culture on the relationships among perceived risk, perceived usability and satisfaction online, in two cultures: Spain (high uncertainty avoidance and low individualism) and the United Kingdom (low uncertainty avoidance and high individualism). The sample comprised 314 Internet users, 119 of whom were Spanish and 195 British. They were asked to browse the experimental website of a fictitious tourist destination. The findings indicated that there are significant differences between the direct influence of perceived risk on perceived usability and also the indirect relationship between perceived risk and satisfaction online during browsing of the tourist website, and that these differences are moderated by the uncertainty avoidance dimension.; El propósito de este trabajo es analizar empíricamente la influencia de la cultura sobre la relación entre el riesgo percibido, la usabilidad y la satisfacción percibida
