abstract = {La transición de una cultura escrita a una cultura audiovisual que está ocurriendo desde finales del siglo XX hasta la actualidad ha afectado de manera directa al mundo del libro y, como no podía ser de otra manera, también a la literatura. 
Con el término literatura digital o literatura hipermedia se hace referencia a aquellas obras literarias creadas mediante algún tipo de software y visualizadas específicamente a través de una pantalla donde texto, sonido e imagen se combinan. Se trata de una nueva textualidad que se aprovecha de los recursos técnicos, gráficos e interactivos suministrados por la computación y posibilita la interactividad con el lector, la modificación del orden de lectura lineal mediante el hipervínculo y la incorporación de elementos audiovisuales que complementan o sustituyen el texto literario.
Este texto busca introducir al investigador en los recursos existentes sobre literatura hipermedia y hacer un balance de las últimas líneas de investigación: ¿qué instituciones promueven su estudio? ¿Qué aspectos destacan los investigadores al analizarla? ¿Qué temas han sido ya tratados? ¿Cuáles son las tendencias y enfoques vigentes en los últimos trabajos? 
Para ofrecer este estado de la cuestión, se analizan los últimos congresos de la Electronic Literature Organization (ELO) y los encuentros de su correlato europeo, la Electronic Literature as a Model of Creativity and Innovation in Practice (ELMCIP), así como las antologías de obras seleccionadas en los tres volúmenes de la ELO Collection y en la Anthology of European Electronic Literature.},
abstract = {The evolution happened in the last decades of 20th century from a written culture to an audiovisual culture has directly affected printed books and, of course, literature.
Digital or electronic literature (e-lit) refers to literary works created by computer, where text, sound and image are combined. This new textuality uses the technical, graphic and interactive resources provided by the computer, and it enables the reader to interact with, modifying reading order through hyperlinks or audiovisual elements which complement or replace the literary text.
This paper introduces the researcher in the main resources regarding digital literature, and thraces the latest lines of research. We will seek to answer questions such as: Which institutions are promoting studies on digital literature? What elements do researchers highlight when studying it ? What are the most recent trends and approaches on this field ?
In order to achieve this study, the last conferences of the Electronic Literature Organization (ELO) and the meetings of its European correlate, the Electronic Literature as a Model of Creativity and Innovation in Practice (ELMCIP), have been analysed, as well as the literary works included in the ELO Collection volumes and the Anthology of European Electronic Literature.},
