abstract = {This doctoral thesis intends to approach one of the most extended
forms of violence against women: intimate partner violence against women
(IPVAW). IPVAW is defined as any “behaviour within an intimate
relationship that causes physical, sexual or psychological harm, including acts
of physical aggression, sexual coercion, psychological abuse and controlling
behaviours”. This violence affects women
throughout the world, in all countries and societies, and
epidemiological studies estimate that more than 30% of women around the
world have experienced physical or sexual violence by their male partners.},
